Chandigarh – The City Beautiful, but all is not well with the health of the people living in city of roses. According to a recent study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Chandigarh has the highest prevalence of metabolic syndrome — a collection of five medical conditions: abdominal (central) obesity, elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting plasma glucose, high serum triglycerides and high density lipoprotein.
It has been found in study that in all the regions, prevalence of both generalised and abdominal obesity was higher in urban areas compared to rural areas.
