India has started its space competition. India is sending its first unmanned vehicle to moon controlled from the ground in 2008. This mission is called Chandrayaan 1. This satellite will be revolving all around the moon for 1 year just 100km above the moon. It will get its energy from Sun.

After it collects all the info then robots will be send and them men. This will probably done by 2015.

And about satelites India is very advanced, way more advanced then Canada sending more then 40 satelites by now and also has the most advanced launch vehicle right now. This launch vehicles are only possesed by US, Russia and India. Not even China.

It is GSLV Mack II and GSLV Mack III. This launch vehicle can let India do a lot of stuffs and is capable of carrying on Mars and Moon mission and the good thing about this is that this was developed by India indigeniously.

India is planning a mars mission in 2050 too.
