Tension gripped the Watergam area of Baramulla district on Tuesday when an explosive planted in a school near a polling booth went off in the wee hours this morning.
Some minor damage was caused to the school but police and the Army have now cordoned off the village.
The police are tightlipped about the incident but school authorities informed they were making arrangements since Monday for the elections. Earlier, posters in some areas of the constituency by militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen asked people to boycott voting.
Baramulla goes to polls on Wednesday.
