Sameer Husain alias Dada Husain, son of beautician Shahnaz Husain and a rap singer, died after falling from the third floor of his in-laws' flat on busy Exhibition Road in Patna on Sunday evening. Sameer's father-in-law Mahfooz Ahmed said he was depressed since the last few days and did not talk to anyone in the house. Sameer's wife, Rabia, who was away in Dhanbad for a family function, has reached Patna. Mahfooz, a practicing high court lawyer, said he and Sameer were scheduled to leave for Delhi by the Rajdhani Express late on Sunday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, Sameer leapt off the flat around 6.30 pm while his father-in-law was drinking tea and watching TV in the drawing room. As his bulky and tattooed body hit the ground with a thud, other residents of the building, Maqbool Apartment, informed Mahfooz, and rushed Sameer to a private nursing home in Kankerbagh where he was declared brought dead. SSP Kundan Krishnan said prima facie it appeared a case of suicide although no suicide note was found in the house. He said Gandhi Maidan police have registered a case of unnatural death and if police get any clue, the case would be investigated accordingly.
