NEW DELHI: Despite pictures of apparent bonhomie between BJP president Rajnath Singh and Narendra Modiat the saffron strongman's swearing-in at Ahmedabad, the BJP found itself unable to answer queries about whether the Gujarat chief minister would be re-inducted into the parliamentary board.
The BJP president had dropped Modi from the parliamentary board earlier this year on the ground that no other BJP chief minister enjoyed a similar privilege. In propounding such a rationale, Singh had sought to bring Modi on par with other chief ministers like Raman Singh and Shivraj Singh Chauhan, ignoring his status as a senior BJP leader.
With BJP now hailing Modi's big win, party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad ducked a pointed query on Wednesday over whether the CM would be brought back into the parliamentary board. "He is a big leader, he will be used for campaigning," Prasad said, but refused to respond to whether Modi's position in the board would be restored..
