Laxmikant Parsekar takes oath as Goa CM

Parsekar was administered the oath of office and secrecy by state governor Mridula Sinha. Earlier, Laxmikant Parsekar was unanimously elected the leader of the BJP legislature party in Goa. His name was formally proposed by outgoing chief minister Manohar Parrikar and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Francis D'Souza.

State's heath minister Laxmikant Parsekar will be the next chief minister of Goa.

Announcing the decision at the end of a series of meetings with the MLAs and the contenders, central emissary Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that Parsekar's name as the leader of the party's legislature wing, was decided "unanimously".

He said that the chief minister Manohar Parrikar proposed the name of Parsekar and it was seconded by deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza who was also a contender for the top.
