  • Religious places

There are lots of places in India which have religious significance. They have been related to the important events. Haridwar is one of such places. Ganga which is a very holy river flows through it. There are several ghats which have their own significance. There are lots of small and big temples in this holy city.

One such temple is “Daksh mandir”. There is ancient story which is attached to it. It is believed that after the marriage of lord Shiva and goddess Parvati, Daksh Prajapati, who happened to be the father of Parvati, hold a “yagna”. He invited everyone but lord Shiva was not sent any invitation. At this, Parvati got very angry. She went to her father’s house and jumped into the “havan khund” where “yagna” was being performed. On hearing this lord Shiva became very aggressive and he went to Daksh’s house and picked the body of Parvati from the kund. Where ever the parts of her body fell, that place became holy place and temples were built there.

Some of place where these temples are built are Chintpurni, Jwala ji, Mansa Devi, Kangra Devi, Chamunda Devi and Naina Devi.
