An application was filed in the Supreme Court today challenging Centre’s recent notification clearing the way for desealing of premises in unauthorised colonies in the national capital.
The application filed by an NGO sought quashing of the controversial 30th Janauary notification issued by Ministry of Urban Development which envisages to cover properties not protected under the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) ACT, 2007.
The NGO, Delhi Pradesh Citizens Council, which has been opposing any move by the Government to relax the sealing drive, contended that the notification was totally arbitrary, illegal and unconstitutional as it empowers the civic authorities to de-seal the properties sealed under the orders of the apex court.
