Floating a new political outfit on Sunday, former Gujarat chief minister Shankersinh Vaghela said that if his party is voted to power, prohibition will be abolished and a "scientific liquor policy" will be announced.
Vaghela announced formation of the Prajashakti Democratic Party on Sunday and said that his party will contest the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Stating that the existing prohibition policy has led to widespread corruption, Vaghela said that a scientific liquor policy will be announced after seeking the opinion of experts in the field.
Among other announcements, the former chief minister said that if voted to power, the Prajashakti Democratic Party will provide a Rs 12 lakh medical insurance cover to all families having an annual income of up to Rs 12 lakh.
Children of such families will get free education until the postgraduate level, he added.
In another significant announcement, Vaghela said that apart from creating employment opportunities for youth, those who are unemployed will get allowance.
Promising sops for consumers, the veteran politician said water tax will be abolished and people will get 100 units of free electricity every month.
