Coronavirus LIVE Updates March 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting today (Wednesday) with all chief ministers to discuss the rising number of coronavirus cases in several states. Meanwhile, the first confirmed case of Covid-19 caused by the South Africa variant of coronavirus has been detected in Delhi, PTI sources said on Tuesday. Also, a central team has warned that Maharashtra is at the "beginning" of a second Covid-19 wave even as the state recorded 17,864 fresh Covid-19 cases and 87 deaths on Tuesday. Amid the surge in coronavirus cases, India has vaccinated over 3.48 crore people. In recent days, several countries including Denmark, Ireland, and Thailand have temporarily suspended the use of AstraZeneca's Covid vaccine after reports that some people who got a dose developed blood clots, even though there's no evidence that the shot was responsible. However, the World Health Organization's (WHO) director-general said people should not panic.
