  • Life returned back to normal after Powerful blasts in the capital

Police raided several hotels and guesthouses and questioned several people seeking leads about the serial blasts in New Delhi. These blasts triggered panic ahead of Diwali, festival of lights.

At least 210 people were injured in the blasts at two busy marketplaces while another exploded outside a bus in the Indian capital, which has been placed on red alert.

Senior Delhi police officer Mukesh Chander told that the discrepancies in the number of fatalities were corrected, from the 61 earlier announced to 59.

Police and security agencies extensively combed the blast sites but there was no breakthrough about the nature of explosives used in the attacks.

Elsewhere in the city, life returned back to normal. The Sarojini Nagar and Paharganj markets, scenes of utter destruction and despair, reopened hours after the attack.

At Sarojini Nagar market where 43 people lost their lives, debris and charred remains were cleared and people made purchases.
