Diesel costlier in region from Thursday

Diesel consumers in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Delhi will have to pay Rs 1-4 more per litre from Thursday, with the four states and the union territory increasing value-added tax (VAT) on diesel. The decision is consequent to parleys held by a committee of finance ministers of the states and the UT for a uniform VAT structure. The hiked VAT will be around 17% across the board.

Yesterday midnight central govt has announced cut in diesel and petrol prices by 2rs. But because of state govt putting vat on diesel, the prices have gone up.
