Minister of Sindh has issued shoot to kill order to the security persons to tackle rioters in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, media reports quoted a paramilitary spokesman as saying.

Sindh is the home province of Pakistan’s slain former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the worst hit in the violence that followed her assassination on Thursday.

Thousands of angry supporters had poured into the streets and set afire hundreds of vehicles. More protesters are joining the mob after the Friday prayers, the reports said.

There would be no official delegation from India to attend former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto's funeral in her Sindh village as it would be a "personal affair", Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon said Friday.

Menon told CNN-IBN that there would be no official representation from India. But the Indian government would send a representative for a public memorial service later.

South Block remained in constant touch with the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, he said. The Pakistan government would inform them when the public memorial service would be held.

According to reports, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif conferred with Zardari and may not attend the funeral.

Slain Pakistan leader Benazir Bhutto has been laid to rest in ancestral graveyard in Larkana, near her father's grave.

Her supporters gathered in large numbers to pay last respect to their beloved leader.

Earlier, the funeral procession for slain Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was held in southern Sindh on Friday afternoon.

The body of assassinated former premier Benazir Bhutto was flown to her ancestral village in Pakistan's Sindh province on Friday morning, where hundreds of her supporters converged to attend the funeral following a night of violent protests across the country against her killing.

The body was flown in a military aircraft from Rawalpindi's Chaklala airbase to Sukkur, from where it was ferried by a helicopter to Mohenjodaro, near her ancestral home at Naudero village.

Bhutto's husband Asif Ali Zardari and their three children -- son Bilawal and daughters Bakhtawar and Asifa, who flew in from Dubai last evening, accompanied the coffin from Rawalpindi.

The former prime minister's estranged sister-in-law Ghinwa Bhutto and niece Fatima too joined the family in mourning at her native village.

Pak blames Qaida for Bhutto killing

            Saturday, December 29, 2007 (Islamabad)
The Pakistan government blamed the Al-Qaida for the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto.

Interior ministry spokesman Brig Javed Iqbal Cheema said, ''There was irrefutable evidence that al-Qaida was trying to destabilise Pakistan by systematically targeting Pakistanis.''

Cheema said, ''Al-Qaida commander Baitullah Mehsud'' masterminded the suicide bombing against Bhutto and intelligence agencies had intercepted a conversation in which he congratulated certain persons for the attack.

Mehsud is regarded a commander of pro-Taliban forces in Pakistan's restive South Waziristan area where al-Qaida is also active...Read...

Cause of Bhotto's death in dispute !

Bhutto died neither of a bullent injury nor of bomb blast. In a recent development, it has been revealed both by the hospital authorities and her party officials that she died of cardiac arrest which happened due to a brain injury. It is believed that Bhutto hit her head against her car door in an attempt to dodge bullets shot at her by the two gunmen and this is said to have caused sudden bleeding inside her head [brain haemorrhage] which resulted in cardiac arrest and death.

There are a number of different versions of her killing. These are the rumors which are going on:-
Different theories on Bhutto's death are doing round since she was assassinated on Thursday. Following are the different causes of her death cited.

                1. Media report quoting a PPP member said that Benazir Bhutto had died in the hospital after getting critically injured in a gun and bomb attack at Rawalpindi rally on Thursday. He said two assassins shot at Benazir.

                2. People present at the site said that a lone assassin was standing behind the car and fired three shots at Benazir Bhutto from close range. Benazir was hit in the back of her neck and back.

                3. PPP leaders said that she had been hit by shots fired by the suicide attacker while she was waving to her supporters from the sunroof of her armored vehicle.

                4. The doctors at Rawalpindi General Hospital who tried to save Bhutto's life said on Friday that she had been hit in the head by shrapnel from the suicide bomb attack and that there were no bullet wounds on her body.

                5. Javed Cheema, Interior Ministry spokesperson, said that the injury on the slain leader was actually caused by the lever of the sunroof of her vehicle.

Now time only can tell what is the truth behind the killing of this brave women.

                  Bhutto's son maintains political dynasty

Standing before the cameras on Sunday, bespectacled 19-year-old Bilawal Bhutto Zardari looked more like a South Asian Harry Potter than the newly crowned leader of a powerful political movement.
But the Oxford University student had the only qualification he needed to become chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party: He's the son of party leader Benazir Bhutto, slain by an assassin on Thursday. And he's the grandson of the party's charismatic founder, former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was overthrown and executed by the military three decades ago.

Benazir's party demands elections go ahead as scheduled

The party of slain Opposition Leader Benazir Bhutto demanded crucial Jan. 8 elections be held on schedule, brushing aside concerns that unrest and political turmoil triggered by her death may damage the credibility of the polls.

Pakistan's Election Commission was to meet later Monday to discuss the timing of the elections, a key step in U.S.-backed plans to restore democracy to the nuclear armed nation as it battles rising attacks by Taliban and al-Qaida militants.

After days of rioting that left at least 44 dead, life in many Pakistani cities began returning to normal, though soldiers and police patrolled many areas. The streets were still quiet in the southern city of Karachi, the scene of some of the worst violence, witnesses said.

On Sunday, Bhutto's party named her 19-year-old son Bilawal Zardawai as its symbolic leader and left day-to-day control to her husband, extending Pakistan's most enduring political dynasty following the opposition leader's assassination.

The party immediately said it would contest the polls, perhaps sensing major electoral gains were possible amid sympathy at Bhutto's death and a widespread belief that political allies of U.S-backed President Pervez Musharraf were behind the killing.

``My mother always said democracy is the best revenge,'' Bilawal said late Sunday at an emotionally charged media conference at Bhutto's ancestral home. ``The party's long struggle for democracy will continue with renewed vigor,'' he said.

The party also appealed to the party of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, another political enemy of Musharraf now seeking to position in himself in Pakistan's new political landscape, to reverse an earlier decision to boycott the polls.

                    Sharif's party later agreed.

Tariq Azim, a spokesman for the pro-Musharraf Pakistan Muslim League-Q party, congratulated the decision not to seek a delay in the vote and said ``we are also ready for the contest on Jan. 8.'' Earlier, he predicting the election may be delayed up to four months.

The appointment of Bhutto's husband, Asif Ali Zardari, as effective leader was not without complications. A former Cabinet minister who spent eight years in prison on corruption accusations, he is known as ``Mr. 10 Percent'' for allegedly taking kickbacks and is viewed with suspicion by many Pakistanis.

Zardari said the opposition party _ Pakistan's largest _ had no confidence in the government's ability to bring the killers to justice and urged the United Nations to establish a committee like the one investigating the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

A statement from the British government said Musharraf had agreed to consider ``potential international support'' to the Pakistani investigation into the assassination, but gave no more details. It also urged Pakistan to go ahead with elections without any ``significant delay.''

Pak retracts 'lever killed Bhutto' theory, says sorry

The Pakistan government has retracted its contention that former prime minister Benazir Bhutto died after striking her head against the sunroof lever of her SUV and has "apologised" for floating the theory.

"The caretaker government of Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro Monday on apologised for the highly provocative comment made by the interior ministry spokesman that Bhutto died because she hit the lever of her bullet-proof Land Cruiser on the fateful (Dec 27) evening," The News reported on Tuesday.

At a briefing for newspaper editors from all over the country, Interior Minister Lt. Gen. (retd) Hamid Nawaz asked the media and the people to "forgive and ignore" the comment by ministry spokesman Brig (retd) Javed Cheema.

Cheema's comment caused a huge uproar as private TV channels obtained footage showing the assassin pointing and firing a gun at Bhutto. She is then shown collapsing into the vehicle. It is only later that a suicide bomber blows up at the site in Rawalpindi, causing mayhem and killing at least 20 people.

"Editor after editor lambasted the government for its non-serious attitude towards the tragedy, specially the statement that Bhutto had died by hitting the lever and not by a bullet or shrapnel," the newspaper said.

Soomro first tried to defend Cheema, saying he was just relating the facts that had been presented to him, especially about the cause of death.

"We are conducting an investigation and all TV footage, all evidence, that would be available will help in reaching a definite conclusion," Soomro maintained.

"But the issue did not subside. More questions were asked with reference to the medical report of Rawalpindi doctors and it was emphatically pointed out that the report quoted by the spokesman never mentioned the cause of the head injury to Bhutto. It only said there was a head injury with a broken skull that caused cardio-pulmonary arrest," The News said.

Soomro then referred the issue to the interior minister, who explained in detail the security measures that were taken and asserted that Bhutto had a bullet- proof vehicle that could not be damaged by any bomb or bullet.

Once Bhutto was inside the vehicle, Nawaz stated, she was secure and police vans were trying to keep her vehicle clear of other vehicles. But when she emerged from the sunroof, she exposed herself to an attack.

"Nothing would have happened to her even if everyone in the world had wanted to hurt her (if she had not come out)," Nawaz maintained.

"An editor again questioned why Cheema had overstepped by saying that a car lever had killed her when the manufacturers of the car and (husband) Asif Ali Zardari had stated that there was no metallic lever which could have caused the wound to her head. The medical report also did not mention any such cause of death," The News said.

"Then the interior minister said the spokesman's comments may have been a mistake as 'we are faujis (soldiers) and we are not so articulate in presenting our views as you journalists can. I am sorry if that happened and please forgive us and ignore the comment', Nawaz told the editors."

Soomro was asked whether he would allow a foreign investigation into the murder but he continued to assert that Pakistani experts were fully competent to do the job.

"His continuous denials raised questions about the offer made by President (Pervez) Musharraf to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown that foreign help (to probe the killing) could be welcomed by Pakistan," The News said.

Many questions remain surrounding Ms Bhutto's murder

In the immediate aftermath of the blast, police said that Miss Bhutto had safely escaped the attack. But later it became apparent that she had been taken to the Rawalpindi General Hospital's emergency section.

A seven-member team of doctors which examined her sent a report to the health ministry saying Ms Bhutto had open wounds on her left temporal region from which "brain matter was exuding". The report did not say what caused the wound, apparently because no autopsy had been performed on the body

Bhutto killing: Scotland Yard team arrives in Pak

ISLAMABAD:- A team from Britain's Scotland Yard arrived here on Friday to help Pakistani authorities probe the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto, a day after President Pervez Musharraf said he was "not fully satisfied" with the investigation done so far.

The small team from the Metropolitan Police's Counter-Terrorism Command will meet officials from Pakistan's Interior Ministry to discuss modalities of the probe and to be briefed on the investigation conducted so far.

The Interior Ministry has also asked the Special Investigation Group, the anti-terror wing of the Federal Investigation Agency that is helping in the probe into Bhutto's killing in Rawalpindi on December 27, to extend assistance to the British team
