  • Bird flu: Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake cordoned off

Chandigarh's Sukhna Lake was cordoned off early on Thursday after a sample from a dead duck tested positive for the H5N1 (avian or bird flu) virus.
Police and paramilitary personnel with masks on their faces were stationed at the lake complex since early Thursday to cordon off the entire area, IANS reported.

Yes Mennisa its sad news, the Sukhna Lake was cordoned off this morning and entry for public was closed from the entrance of the water body to its regulator end as a precautionary measure, with boating and other activities for tourists stopped. Christmas and New Year is coming and people came to visit Sukhna Lake and enjoying food and boating. It would be sad for event organizers who are going to plan the festivals. UT administration have to take action as soon as possible to control this H5N1 virus.
