Thick fog played havoc with city residents' travel plans today. While just two flights could operate from Chandigarh Airport, trains were running much behind schedule. Due to the blanket of fog, visibility was reduced to such an extent that even driving on roads proved to be a problem.

Heavy fog in New Delhi on Monday hit the smooth running of air and rail transportation between Chandigarh and the National Capital with as many as four flights and an equal number of trains, including New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express, getting hours late in their arrival times. Overall, as many as 12 trains were delayed on Monday.

Again Cold wave grips North India; Delhi experiences worst fog in 3 years. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) airport was forced to shut down partially for around three hours early Monday after extremely poor visibility on the runway. The flights are expected to resume as soon as the visibility improves.
