  • Funny Ways Of Ringing In New Year

India is filled with traditions, some good ones some funny and some completely odd. But we are not the only ones with funny and odd customs. Here are some countries across world who have some wired and odd ways of bringing in the New Year.

    1. South Africa:-

South Africans bring in the New Year afresh by throwing their old furniture and utensils out of the window. Better not stand outside any of their windows at midnight.

    2.Denmark :-

In Denmark people stand on chairs and then jump off together when the clock strikes 12. Leaping like this is supposed to banish the evil spirits and bring in good luck.

    3.El Salvador :-

El Salvador, officially knowns as the Republic of El Salvador, is a densely populated country in Central America. Here locals crack an egg on 31st night , put it in a glass bowl and leave it on the window side overnight. In morning, whatever figure the egg takes determines their fortune for the coming year.

    4.Estonia :-

Estonians follow a weird custom on 31st Dec. In order to get abundant food in the coming year, people eat 7 times in a day.

So here are some of the different , funny and odd ways of ringing in New Year. If you know of any more such customs do share with us all.

Spanish tradition holds that eating 12 grapes just before the clock chimes midnight will bring good fortune for all 12 months of the upcoming year.

New Year's Day, which is known as the Day of the Buttered Bread in Gaelic, is traditionally marked in Ireland by banging loaves of bread on doors and walls to chase the bad luck out of a house and to invite good spirits in the house.

In China the Chinese have a unique way of celebrating New Year, where every front door of a house is painted in red which symbolizes happiness and good fortune. They hide all the knives for the day so that no one cuts oneself, because that may actually cut the entire family good luck for the coming year. However that doesn't make any difference to the feast they have during time.
