  • Govt may not agree to VRS for Kiran Bedi

NEW DELHI: The government is trying to retain the services of Kiran Bedi, the country’s first woman IPS officer, who put in a request for voluntary retirement in November. Union home secretary Madhukar Gupta on Wednesday indicated that the government was unlikely to accept Bedi’s request.

Gupta, while addressing the Foundation Day celebrations of Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), said, “We have decided to put a big new responsibility on your shoulders and that means anchoring the National Police Mission.”
