NAM was good in the mould of the socialistic thinking that our leaders used to possess in the 20th century. Now India should care for its national interests. That's because everyone cares for their self-interests individually and national interests collectively.

Plus what do stay out of in today's world. In the 20th century, there were the pro-US and the pro-soviet blocks and we proclaimed to stay out of either of them. But in today's world there are no blocks. There's the US but we can't dismiss the values of freedom it proclaims. We should support the US in its democratic ideals but not agree with it on its invading nations regularly. Also we should embrace free-market capitalism with a certain level of socialism suited to us as a developing country.

But let's not become non-aligned-anti-US because the alternative ideology is destructive and stagnant, of totalitarianism and a completely socialist economy.

NAM is useless!! wonder when will the leaders of east realise that an economic and military alliance between Russia,China nd India will change the world. A capitalist n liberal society alliance similar to NATO. Theres a lot of cultural difference between these countrries unlike the Nato countries, that need to be ironed out first,then theres the need to promote co-operation,rather than competition.
Changes should also come in the governmental level, China is the odd one out in that.

Afganistan is trying hard to kick terrorism out of its system.At this time we need to support their democratic government instead leaving them.Unlike our neighbours they are atleast trying to improve themselves.
AS far as NAM goes it was best that India got rid of that shitty socialist approach.The socialist government led us to the verge of bankruptcy in 1990.
It was post 1990 that our than FM. Manmohan Singh(today PM) brought about economic reforms which led to the turn around in the Indian economy.
Whatever the India economy is today is because of those reforms.If pro US is what it takes for India to prosper than Pro US it is .

You are right slash. But we need to take care of our country first. Yes we can provide money to Afghanistan but we should also provide money to NE India. And what about India giving 25 million dollar as a charity to Pakistan. And yeah if India needs to improve and for that they need to be pro US then go for it. But we should take care of Indians too who are in bad condition like kashmir, Nagaland, NE, Bihar, and UP.
