can anyone tell me? A few years ago a friend brought me some seeds from India. He said that when small the entire plant could be eaten including the roots which apparently are something like heart of palm. The leaves can be eaten like salad. If left to grow it gains great height rapidly but if trimmed it will grow into an almost unpassable hedge. Does anyone know the name of this plant/tree?

I think ur talking about mooli. I think its called radish in english. But radish has many varieties. The white variety is called mooli. Its root that is mostly consumed looks like the heart of palm. Its leaves are consumed for salad. It grows rapidly and is ready for harvest in nealy 30 days.

Thanks but I don´t think so. This is more like a tree and grows quite tall.
