Hi All, My name is Shawn. I am a programmer in Minnesota, USA. I have been working as a programmer for over 10 years now. I have worked for small, medium and large companies. I have MANY friends working in IT. Many of our jobs are going over to India right now. If fact, there are many of us who are training people in India to take over our jobs.
One interesting fact, the people who are taking over our jobs do not like the companies they work for! Also, my friends are not too keen on handing over their jobs either. I am currently talking to a couple of offshore programmers (and my colleagues) to find out if we can put together a business venture.
Here is what I am looking for…
I am looking for someone who is passionate about technology. I would like to know you have a network of friends that are in the IT field. I am looking for leader, someone who can LEARN and TEACH how to communicate business, and someone who has access to different types of technical resources.
When I talk about technical resources, I mean specific technical resources. For example, I want to know you can pull together a .NET programmer who is familiar with the User Interface Process Application Block - Version 2.0, a specialist in the Oracle Configurator application, a person who understands how the .NET Global Positioning SDK component works, a SAP expert, or a Cache expert, so on and so forth.
I don’t need to know that you have these persons; I need to know that you can get them. If you need to go down the route of teaching them, I want them to be passionate about their learning!
I believe I can get work (lots of it). I am familiar with many of the issues of outsourcing and I think I can help facilitate the transition.
