    • Telangana, means "land of Telugus", was part of the former princely state of Hyderabad
    • Telangana falls roughly between the two main rivers of the region, Krishna and Godavari
    • Telangana is India's 12th largest by population with 35.29 million people, approximately that of Canada which ranks below Odisha and above Kerala
    • In the year 1953, the States Reorganization Committee recommended against the immediate merger of Telangana with the then Andhra Pradesh
    • On November 1, 1956 Telangana merged with the Andhra state to form Andhra Pradesh
    • The demand for Telangana was raised in the year 1956 when Andhra Pradesh was created
    • Telangana state is technically big enough to be the world's 33rd largest country
    • Hyderabad is the common capital of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
