The Panjab University Senate on Sunday approved the appointment of Pune-based Colonel G S Chadha as registrar, rejecting questions about his eligibility.
Col Chadha retires from the Army on September 30.
In August, the Syndicate had cleared Col Chadha’s name, but some of the senators alleged that he did not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
Satya Pal Jain, who is also chairman of the BJP National Committee for Legal Affairs and Election Commission, said, “The post requires at least 15 years of administrative experience, of which eight years should be as deputy registrar or an equivalent post.
