The power regulator came up with a roadmap to tackle the pending revenue gap by way of surcharge.Consumers are in for bad news with a power tariff hike for this year on the anvil. This means that consumers may end up footing the revenue deficit between the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) and power distribution companies in the city.
"Last year, the tariff order was issued in July and it had cleared the deficit up to March 2013 - which amounted to Rs.11,400 crore. We recognise the deficit on an annual basis and that is reflected in the tariff order. This year the exercise has been carried out and a tariff order is expected," said P.D. Sudhakar, chairman, DERC.
