    Hinduism: One God or Many?

The biggest criticism of Hinduism from some practitioners of other religions is that Hindus worship many Gods and therefore are superstitious and ignorant of God's real nature. A little analysis of this view shows that the criticism is unfounded, and that the Hindu approach reflects a mature and creative approach towards spirituality, showing an intimate connection and experience of the Divine on many levels, as well as maintaining the Oneness of God, which upholds the entire creation.

    God is one

    God is one

There is no doubt that there are many Hindu deities. There are 90 crores of goddesses and gods which are worshipped at different regions in India alone. But this is not a matter of criticism. Whatever god or goddess people worship, it shows their faith and devotion towards them. A faith can turn a rock into God. Fears of supernatural powers of God always teach a person to follow the path of truth and honesty. A person thinks a lot before committing a sin.

People who criticize Hinduism saying there are many gods in it are just ignorant. Hindus know they have the word "bhagwaan" in Hindi (other forms in other languages, like "Thakur" in Bengali) which stands for "God" only.

Because hindus believe in many Gods they are more tolerant to other religions.

Unlike muslims and christians who believe in just one God.

If you think that all people are against you, then certainly there must be some fault with your thinking.

As the people of all the hues can not be against one.

I think hindus are the only ones, whom you would find in places of worship of other religion, with the faith as if it was their own religion, you can always find hindus visiting dargahs, churches and other religious places.I think its the only religion in the world which respects other religions and belives in them to certain extent.Maybe its because we hindus believe that God is everywhere and in all forms and religions are just a way to reach God.

                  LOVE IS GOD...

when someone love dancing singing etc... that means he/she is trying to find their god in it...

I do have doubt that GOD is one...he he he... ?

                  Is GOD alone... ?

And if he is alone then ....I think GOD has no work so he created man universe etc... he he ....so that he should not be alone...

God is a symbol of everything beautiful and lovable. He is a symbol of all the good gestures and noble acts.

I dont think there is ram or jesus or allah sitting up their in heavens watching us like a judge. All three either live in ur heart or they dont. But u will not find any of the three alone.

Either you believe in all three or u believe in none.

And if say u believe in just one u r fooling yourself and the rest of the world.

All other questions raised here are meaningless.

well, will have to tell you something about hinduism.Hinduism is about way of life and the Gods which you are talking, had taken human life to be with humans and teach them ways and morals of life.Today science has accepted that physical activities like dancing and singing are good for health in many ways, and we were told about it before science could think about experimenting it.Hinduism tells us to enjoy life and true to it our Gods were jolly and never had sad faces. As far as monogamy/polygamy are concerned,it was common in primative times to have many wives, its only in the present time that it creates problems due to economical, medical, population and many other reasons. The practice of having many wives can be found in almost all religious books.Every religion is criticised by people of other religion, its just because we have been told since childhood that ours is the best religion. In todays time, with all the technology available to us we should think of grasping whats good in different religion and how it can help an individual and our society.Criticising wont take us any where.Take yoga from hindus, learn to forgive from christainity, learn the art of regular prayers from islam, learn to live simple life from buddhism, learn to be bold from sikhism, etc and make heaven on earth.Take the best from every religion, after all religions are ways to reach God.

thanks Rohit, today we need to apply this in our lives so that we can teach our coming generation to live in harmony and peace. We should look forward to make our coming generations good human beings apart from making them hindu, muslim, christian, sikh. The greatest moral value a person can have is, respecting all religions and loving, helping all human beings. As its said, you cant question/answer/debate on any religion. Its simply not possible.
