  • Linux Partitions!!

    LINUX partitions are of two types:-
    1. Physical Partitions
    2. Logical Partitions

    Physical Partitions are those which has FILE SYSTEMS like ext2, ext3 i.e extended version file system 2 and extended version file system 3.

    Logical Partitions are those which has directories for every for any data or configuration files.These are:-
    1. Root: acting as the administrator
    2. Boot: for bootable files
    3. Bin: binary data
    4. sbin: super user commands
    5. temp: has temporary files created after the normal data file
    6. etc: contains configuration file
    7. lib: contains all library files
    8. media: contains third party files i.e any third device or additional device
    9. dev: peripheral device files
    10. usr: information about the user files
    11. home: it contains the user files

    These are helpful in storing the data in appropriate form so that the data will not be lost in any chance.
