    With the new Realme 5s, the company undoubtedly wants to take on the likes of the Redmi Note 8. Interestingly, both the Xiaomi and Realme phone come with the same price tag of Rs 9,999. Which one should you buy?

    Realme launched a new under Rs 10,000 phone in India on Wednesday. It is the Realme 5s. This phone succeeds the Realme 5 that launched in India earlier this year at a price of Rs 8,999. The Realme 5s is priced Rs 1,000 more than the predecessor. Realme launches the Realme 5s at a starting price of Rs 9,999 in India. With the new Realme 5s, the company, undoubtedly, wants to take on the likes of the Redmi Note 8. Interestingly, the Xiaomi phone also comes with the same price tag of Rs 9,999.

    Now that the price of both the Realme 5s and the Redmi Note 8 is the same which one should you buy? We at India Today Tech reviewed the Redmi Note 8 some weeks ago and found it to be the best phone under Rs 10,000 in the Indian market right now. The Redmi 5s also looks good in paper. Both the phones come with a 48MP quad-camera setup on the back and Snapdragon 665 processor. One of the biggest differences between the Realme and Redmi phone is in the battery department.

    Let's take a quick look at how the Realme 5s and the Redmi Note 8 compare in terms of specs.

    As far as the design is concerned both the phones look good but the Redmi Note 8 has a slightly upper edge because of the glass body design. The Redmi Note 8 comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both front and back. The Realme 5s includes Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ protection on the front. The back panel of the phone offers plastic made diamond-cut design. Overall, the Redmi Note 8 looks more premium.

    Coming to the screen, in this department too the Redmi Note 8 is a notch above. The Realme 5s comes with a 6.5-inch LCD multi-Touch display that offers 1600x720-pixel resolution at 269 PPI. The Realme 5s includes Mini-Drop on top of the screen that includes the selfie camera. In comparison, the Redmi Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch FHD+ display. The Xiaomi phone also comes with dot drop notch that includes the selfie camera.

    Hardware is one area where both the phones go hand in hand. Both the Realme 5s and the Redmi Note 8 are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 665 processor. The Redmi Note 8 comes paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. This one comes with an expandable storage option of up to 512GB storage. In comparison, the Realme X2 Pro comes paired with up 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This phone also comes with an expandable storage option of up to 256GB.

    Both phones include four cameras on the back. The Redmi Note 8 includes a primary 48MP image sensor, 8MP secondary ultra-wide sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens. In comparison, the Realme 5s comes with a 48MP main sensor, 8MP wide-angle camera, 2MP depth sensor, and 2MP macro lens. Both phones come with lots of AI camera features. For selfies both the phones include a 13MP camera.

    In the battery department, the Realme phone is a notch above the Redmi phone. The Realme 5s comes with 5000mAh battery with 10W charging support. In comparison, the Redmi Note 8 comes with a 4000mAh battery. The interesting bit is the Xiaomi phone comes with 18W fast charging support in the box. The Realme phone comes with micro USB while the Redmi Note 8 comes with Type C support.

    I prefer Realme 5s to everyone. Because I'm gonna buy this phone next week.

            Yes it is also a great phone and Redmi Note 8 Pro price in India starts at Rs. 14,999.

                  Realme 5s will go on sale today in India at 12 pm. The smartphone first went on sale during the Realme Black Friday Sale and reportedly recorded a sale of over a lakh units. Realme 5s will be available for purchase via a flash sale on Flipkart and Realme e-store.
