  • Realme TV

After making waves in the smartphone market, Realme is planning to enter the smart TV segment in India. 91mobiles has learned from industry sources that the company is working on a Realme TV, which will be launched in India in the next couple of months. It’ll be a fresh attempt from Realme to take on Xiaomi, this time in the TV segment that the latter dominates. Xiaomi has a pretty big portfolio of Mi TVs, which starts from budget 32-inch models and goes up to premium smart TVs that are as big as 65-inch in size. While we do not know the screen size of the Realme TV, we can expect it to be positioned in the affordable segment, similar to its smartphones.

The first Realme TV is expected to launch in India in the coming months, 91mobiles reports based on industry sources. Realme is yet to reveal that it is working on a smart TV and there is no information on what this TV will look like. In fact, the report does not shed light on what the screen size of the Realme TV will be or whether it will be an affordable offering from the company.

Given Realme's track record of releasing segment-disruptive smartphones in India (a philosophy that is very similar to Xiaomi), we expect to see the Realme TV launch in India at aggressive prices to take on Xiaomi's ever-growing portfolio of Mi TVs. Realme will have its work cut out as Xiaomi is currently dominating the smart TV sector in India. Xiaomi recently announced that it sold over 2.5 lakh Mi TV units during the Diwali With Mi sale, further solidifying the company's position as the number 1 smart TV brand in India.

If the Realme TV launch in India is true, the company plans to end 2019 in a big way. Realme has already confirmed that it will launch the Realme XT 730G and Realme X2 Pro flagship smartphone in India in December. It is possible that the company will use the same launch event in December to announce the Realme TV, but only time will tell.
