Delhi Elections: Only 19.37% Voting Recorded Till 1 Pm, Muslim Dominated Okhla Sees Lowest Voting At Only 5%
The people of Delhi seems to have chosen to sit at home instead of casting their vote in the ongoing Delhi assembly elections. The voting has been extremely slow as only 19.37 per cent of the registered voters made it to voting booths till 1 PM to exercise their right. Reportedly, polling for Delhi assembly polls has now slowly picked up as at 12 noon, only 15.57 per cent voter turnout was recorded, according to Election Commission.Sultanpur Majra has recorded the highest polling with 25% while Muslim-dominated Okhla has registered only at 5%, the lowest in Delhi. Earlier, we had reported on how voters of Jamia Nagar of Okhla constituency, who had once shouted ‘Hum Khagaz Nahi Dhikayenge’, thronged to the voting booth after Muslim clerics had issued diktats to voters to cast their vote.The ruling Aam Aadmi Party will look to win another five-year term in the office, while the BJP which has emerged as the principal opposition will look to wrest power and form its own government. The results of these elections will be declared on February 11.
