BJP Releases Final List Of Ten Candidates; Tajinder Bagga To Contest From Hari Nagar

Among the notable names revealed in this list are BJP Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, contesting from the Hari Nagar constituency, and Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president Sunil Yadav, set to contest the New Delhi seat against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Yadav is a noteworthy fresh face among BJP candidates this year. An advocate by profession, he has worked his way from being the District President of the BYJM, the youth wing of the BJP, to where he is now. The saffron camp is hopeful that Yadav's youth appeal will help the party in defeating Kejriwal and his party, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Interestingly, however, Twitterati started trending #Bagga4HariNagar after the loudmouth spokesperson of the BJP's Delhi unit, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, was given a ticket to contest from the Hari Nagar constituency in the final list. Notably, after Bagga had been left out of the BJP's previous lists, Twitterati had trended #DontCryBagga on the social media site, to mock his missed chance of contesting the 2020 Delhi polls. However, he has now been given the ticket to contest the Hari Nagar seat. BJP sources said that Bagga was interested in contesting from Tilak Nagar, but the party high command decided to field another candidate from that seat. Other constituencies named in the final list are Nangloi Jat, Rajouri Garden, Delhi Cantonment, Kasturba Nagar, Mehrauli, Kalkaji, Krishna Nagar and Shahdara.

BJP national president JP Nadda on Friday slammed the AAP, alleging the Arvind Kejriwal-led government failed to construct more schools and hospitals and install CCTV cameras in the city as it had promised.

The BJP chief accused the Aam Aadmi Party of not fulfilling its promises of adding more schools, hospitals, installing free WiFi and appointing anti-corruption ombudsman (Lokpal) in the capital.

"The AAP had promised to add 500 more schools, 30 new hospitals, 5,000 buses, lakhs of CCTV cameras, promised free WiFi at public places, Lokpal. But did they do it? They have not and that is their past," Mr Nadda said, cautioning voters to beware of the AAP's poll promises.

He cited infrastructure works undertaken by the BJP government at the Centre like the Eastern and the Western Peripheral Expressways, Meerut Expressway that he said have helped Delhi and nearby areas.

On January 27, BJP Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir tweeted a video suggesting that it shows a dilapidated school in the capital. “They say fight the election on education, I say fight the election on truth!” he wrote. Delhi legislative assembly elections are set to be held on February 8 and Gambhir’s tweet attempted to portray the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in poor light. At the start of the viral video, a notice is visible on the building’s gate however the camera does not focus on the notice. Journalist Uday Rana Singh tweeted a close-up of the notice which informs that the school was relocated to SBV JJ Colony on October 9, 2019. If one notices carefully, the photograph has been taken at the same location – the art on the gate is identical. The official Twitter handle of AAP quote-tweeted Gambhir’s tweet and wrote that the building featured in the video is no longer a functional school. “The school you visited has been shifted to SBV JJ Colony in October 2019,” tweeted the party along with a video where the notice is clearly visible Singh shared a photograph of the makeshift school provided for the students. “I also visited the makeshift school in Khichdipur. They’ve been studying here since October as their school is under renovation,” he wrote The misinformation was also called out by Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia. He wrote, “The notice on the building’s gate itself says that the school was relocated to a neighbouring school six months ago as it is undergoing renovation.”BJP MP Gautam Gambhir shared a video of a dilapidated building to suggest that it is a functional school in AAP’s Delhi. Delhi Assembly Election 2020: Kejriwal ‘exposed’, BJP will win more than 45 seats, says JP Nadda

As the campaign for the Delhi assembly polls ended on Thursday, BJP president J P Nadda said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been “exposed” for his “false” promises and expressed confidence that the saffron party will win over 45 seats in the 70-member legislature. “People have decided to bring the BJP to power in Delhi. The BJP is going to come to power with a full majority. More than 45 for the BJP in Delhi this time,” he said.

The BJP has been out of power in the city for more than two decades, and had only managed three seats as against AAP’s 67 in last assembly elections. Later, BJP got one more seat in Rajouri Garden by-election in 2017.
