Govt Hiked Excise Duty On Petrol & Diesel By Rs 3700 Cr

The government on Wednesday hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre. The move will result in an additional Rs 6.59 crore from the sale of these two fuels in the market, a finance ministry statement said. This would be the second consecutive increase in excise duty for both these fuels since May 2018. The hike is expected to impact the prices of both petrol and diesel by around Rs 2 per litre.

After the fourth reduction in rates in six weeks, petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 59.03 per litre with effect from midnight tonight as against Rs 59.35 per litre currently. one litre of diesel will cost Rs 44.18 as opposed to Rs 45.03 presently.
