India has recorded over 1.61 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, about 7,100 cases lower than yesterday, taking the country's caseload to 1,36,89,453. A total of 879 people also succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours, pushing India's death toll due to the infection to 1,71,058, according to the Union health ministry.
