A Breathtaking view from the top of Churdhar Peak, Himachal Churdhar aka Churi-Chandni Dhar (Bangles of snow ridge) is the highest peak in the outside Himalayan range. The peak is surrounded by a 56 square km forest sanctuary, which makes the trekking a delightful affair.

Churdhar at 3655 meters is the highest peak in outer Himalayas.
A beautiful trek near Chandigarh, trail moves through dense forests, meadows and finally to the Churdhar Peak. Panoramic views from the Churdhar top are unbelievable. On a clear day, one can see peaks like Shrikhand Mahadev, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Kinnaur(or Kinner) Kailash to name a few.

In 1834, George Everest who was the Surveyor General of India recorded many astronomical readings and sighted some of the higher Himalayan peaks from Churdhar. Mount Everest, the highest peak of the world is also named after George Everest.
Trek from Solan side starts from Nauradhar and is approximately 15 km to the top. There are 3 more starting points for this trek. One of these starts from Sarahan in Shimla district, which is a steep incline of 7 km.

Nauradhar is located at 133 km (3-4 hours) from Chandigarh and 383 km (7-8 hours) from Delhi. One needs to take a diversion from Kumarhatti towards Rajgarh road. Kumarhatti is 55 km from Chandigarh on Chandigarh – Shimla road. Once you reach Nauradhar, all the tiredness of the journey would vanish the moment you see the trail snaking upwards through the forest towards the destination.

Very adventurous treck from Nauradhar to Churdhar temple, it was approximately 18 km long treck, took almost 12 hours to reach the templeThis is the best place for rest or stay for night during Churdhar Trek. Churdhar Trek leads to Churdhar peak & Shirgul Maharaj Temple through Jamanala & Teesri. I've been there almost 7/8 times but this place never-ever discouraged me to visit here again & again. The first stretch of the trek is demanding, when you enter the Forest the scenario changes into beautiful forest walk after that you'll reach this place.
