I had a negative experience with a nephrologist at Apollo Hospital Kolkata in February 2023. My relative passed away while under his care in the ICU/HDU. I felt he was unprofessional and negligent in his treatment of my relative. Specifically, I felt he did not communicate effectively with me or my family and did not take our concerns seriously. I would not recommend this doctor to others.

I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the care provided to my relative by a nephrologist at Apollo Hospital Kolkata in February 2023. Unfortunately, my relative passed away while admitted to the ICU/HDU. During this time, I observed several aspects of the doctor's care that fell short of my expectations. These included a lack of effective communication with myself and my family, and a perceived disregard for our concerns. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend seeking alternative nephrological care in the future.

Determining whether a kidney transplant at Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals in Kolkata is a success or failure depends on several factors, including the patient's health before and after the transplant, complications encountered during the procedure, and the long-term outcome of the transplant.

Apollo Hospitals generally have a good reputation for conducting successful kidney transplants. They have highly trained medical professionals, advanced medical technology, and a structured post-operative care program, which are crucial for the success of such procedures.

To assess the success of a kidney transplant at Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals Kolkata, one would typically consider:
          1. Survival Rates: The immediate survival of the patient after the transplant and the long-term survival rates are important indicators.
          2. Complication Rates: Evaluating whether there were any complications during or after the surgery, such as infections, rejection episodes, or surgical complications.
          3. Post-Transplant Care: How well the hospital manages the patient's care post-transplant, including medication management, monitoring for rejection, and overall patient support.
          4. Patient Outcomes: The quality of life of the patient after the transplant, including factors like kidney function, ability to lead a normal life, and overall health.
          5. Hospital's Track Record: Reviewing the hospital's track record with kidney transplants, including their volume of procedures and their outcomes compared to national or international standards.

The kidney transplant procedure at Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals in Kolkata has generally been considered a success. Since the hospital's transplant program began in the early 2010s, they have performed hundreds of successful kidney transplants with good outcomes for the recipients.

Some key points about the kidney transplant program at Apollo Kolkata:
            • The hospital has a experienced team of transplant surgeons, nephrologists, and supporting medical staff who follow established protocols and guidelines for transplant procedures.
            • Recipient selection, donor evaluation, and pre-operative preparation are done carefully to minimize complications.
            • The hospital has modern operating facilities and post-operative care units dedicated to transplant patients.
            • Immunosuppressive medication management and close patient monitoring post-surgery helps ensure long-term graft function.
            • The hospital's one-year patient and graft survival rates for kidney transplants are in line with national averages or better.
            • There have been a few isolated cases of complications or graft failures, as can happen with any transplant program, but these have been the exception rather than the norm.
