CBEC through Notification No. 16\2013-ST dated 22-11-2013 amended sub-rule (2) of rule 6 of Service Tax Rules, 1994 w.e.f. 01-01-2014 and accordingly all the assessees who paid service tax of Rs. One Lakh or more (including the amount paid by utilization of Cenvat Credit) in the preceding financial year are required to deposit service tax electronically through internet banking.

Supreme Court has dismissed the revenue appeal in which the Allahabad High Court had confirmed the ITAT stand of quashing the assessment order on the ground that the assessment order in the name of individuals could not be made when the warrant of authorisation was issued in the joint names.
