    Meditation - What is it?

    So much hype. When somebody talks about 'meditation' everybody listens! There are ways and ways to go about it. You can start off by sitting cross legged Indian style, close your eyes and hum "Ooommmmm..... "

    OR ...

    Meditation is defined by some as 'Concentration' , but there is another opposing view which says NO CONCENTRATION ... "Drop your Mind!"

    What's the POINT? Why do we need Meditation? Do we need it at all?
    Well, the real idea that comes across is that this is a great way to RELAX. We are so much on the move, physically as well as within our minds. You NEVER STOP!

    Meditation means: S T O P

    Trust me, it's a great feeling to simply BE....... DO NOTHING..... Sit, Stand, lay... DO NOT TRY TO DO ANYTHING. Give yourself a few moments of nothing. Do this as often as you can, even when you are supposedly busy as hell... SIMPLY STOP!

    When you learn this art of RELAXING... your mind and body... you will be able to THINK with greater CLARITY. This means you can handle your life better... you will bring an element of WISDOM into your thoughts and actions.

    Meditation means Stop..correct.
    But stop not only your body, but also your mind.
    This is the most difficult part, to stop your mind from going wild.
    When you are not doing anything in specific, or your physical activity is not focused on a single act, your mind becomes a wild horse. To learn to control that is meditation.

    I would like to give an example of how our body and mind is connected. Lets take a Chariot. The wooden structure is our body. The Horses are the senses. The lash with which the charioteer controls the horses is knowledge. And of course, the charioteer is the mind. So, mind should control the senses, but in real life acts, it's the senses which control the mind. That's why when we relax our senses, our mind becomes wayward. Thats not good for our whole existence.

    Meditation teches us how to control our mind even when senses are inactive, so that mind becomes free from the control of senses and becomes the controller. When our mind controls our senses using our knowledges, then we move towards attaining perfection.

    Try to lie down, loose all your muscles and close your eyes. Stop listening to anything and feeling anything. Then try not to think anything. If you can do it even for 1 second at the begining, it's good enough. Continue this process, and you can control your mind thru meditation.

    That's what actual meditation, I feel.
