Chandigarh Management Association organized a seminar to discuss the

"CHALLENGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION" on 26th

    D, Chandigarh.

Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, the key speaker was

welcomed by presenting a bouquet by Mr. A K Gandhi, President, CMA and Mr. J S

Nayyar, Secretary General CMA welcomed the Guest of Honour, Dr. Manoj Sharma, Past President, CMA.

President Sh.A.K.Gandhi, in his welcome address, while counting the awards won by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh

highly appreciated his positive role in the field of education. The seminar

witnessed record participation of more than 100 members. The seminar hall was

jam-packed. Delivering the address, Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor of Desh

Bhagat University, very well described the challenges being faced by the

educationists of private sector as compared to the public sector. The list of

expectations from these universities broadly covers digitalization of study material, wi-fi campuses equipped

with all other modern facilities, smart classrooms, availability of quality faculty at all levels, especially at senior

level, research, state of art laboratories and so on. All these facilities involve huge funding; he cited that instead

of providing financial support to the educationists, biased legislation were prevailing.

The topic of seminar attracted one-and-all, as was evident from the enthusiastic and very interesting interaction

of members with the speaker Dr. Zora Singh. Where members raised very intelligent and serious issues relating

to higher education, one from the members, turned it slightly humorous by asking about the minimum

qualification of the Education Minister. The lengthy discussion involved pros and cons of present system of

higher education in Punjab. It seemed that question answer round would never end but all good things have an

end, as the time did not allow it any further. The seminar was grand success.

Dr. Manoj Sharma, Past President and the Guest of Honor summing up the views of

the speaker and the apprehensions of the participating members stressed upon

need to come up with a sustainable policy and a comprehensive plan to achieve

the intended purpose of imparting higher education in earnest spirit.

New members were formally inducted into CMA fraternity and were presented with appropriate certification.

Much awaited, CMA Members' Directory-2014, published after a gap of eight years, was also launched during

the function. Dr. Zora Singh unveiled the directory. Members gave a standing ovation to commemorate and

appreciate the efforts made by Mr. Deepak Dhingra, Chairman CMA Members’ Directory to update and compile

the available particulars of each member in a systematic way.
