Chandigarh Management Association organized a seminar to discuss the
"CHALLENGES IN HIGHER EDUCATION" on 26th
D, Chandigarh.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University, the key speaker was
welcomed by presenting a bouquet by Mr. A K Gandhi, President, CMA and Mr. J S
Nayyar, Secretary General CMA welcomed the Guest of Honour, Dr. Manoj Sharma, Past President, CMA.
President Sh.A.K.Gandhi, in his welcome address, while counting the awards won by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh
highly appreciated his positive role in the field of education. The seminar
witnessed record participation of more than 100 members. The seminar hall was
jam-packed. Delivering the address, Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor of Desh
Bhagat University, very well described the challenges being faced by the
educationists of private sector as compared to the public sector. The list of
expectations from these universities broadly covers digitalization of study material, wi-fi campuses equipped
with all other modern facilities, smart classrooms, availability of quality faculty at all levels, especially at senior
level, research, state of art laboratories and so on. All these facilities involve huge funding; he cited that instead
of providing financial support to the educationists, biased legislation were prevailing.
The topic of seminar attracted one-and-all, as was evident from the enthusiastic and very interesting interaction
of members with the speaker Dr. Zora Singh. Where members raised very intelligent and serious issues relating
to higher education, one from the members, turned it slightly humorous by asking about the minimum
qualification of the Education Minister. The lengthy discussion involved pros and cons of present system of
higher education in Punjab. It seemed that question answer round would never end but all good things have an
end, as the time did not allow it any further. The seminar was grand success.
Dr. Manoj Sharma, Past President and the Guest of Honor summing up the views of
the speaker and the apprehensions of the participating members stressed upon
need to come up with a sustainable policy and a comprehensive plan to achieve
the intended purpose of imparting higher education in earnest spirit.
New members were formally inducted into CMA fraternity and were presented with appropriate certification.
Much awaited, CMA Members' Directory-2014, published after a gap of eight years, was also launched during
the function. Dr. Zora Singh unveiled the directory. Members gave a standing ovation to commemorate and
appreciate the efforts made by Mr. Deepak Dhingra, Chairman CMA Members’ Directory to update and compile
the available particulars of each member in a systematic way.
Mr. JS Nayyar, Secretary General, extended his sincere thanks to the key speaker- Dr.
Zora Singh, Chancellor, the Guest of Honour- Dr. Manoj Sharma, Past President, CMA,
and the members for participating and showing their interest in the seminar. Mr.
Nayyar thanked master of ceremony-Mr. Rakesh Bhan and while extending his special
thanks to President Sh.A.K.Gandhi, he appreciated the efforts made by him for
organising today’s seminar "Challenges in Higher Education" successfully. He also thanked Mr. Deepak Dhingra
