    Devi Brahmacharini 2nd Day of Navarathri



    One hand holds a “Kumbha” or water port and the other rosary. She personifies love and loyalty. Bhramcharni is store-house of knowledge and wisdom. Rudraksha is HER most adorned ornament.

    Maa Durga should be worshiped with PANCHOPCHAR (Fragrances, Flowers, Inceses, Diayas and Rice) or Shodshopchar.

    Worshipping Maa Durga’s incarnation as Brahmacharini
    Maa Durga’s incarnation as Brahmcharini is worshiped on second day of Navratri. Its meditation and Mantras are as follows:

    Dadhana karpadmabhyaamakshmaala kamandaloo.
    Devi praseedatu mayi brahmacharinyanuttama..

    Mantra: Om Brahmacharinyay Namah

    Durga Shaptashati Recitation:

    Same way as the first day’s resolution Durga Shaptashati’s recitation should be done; process is same as explained earlier.

    On the second day of Navratri,Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped. Her name is derived from the word 'Brahma'.It is said - Veda, Tattva and Tapa are synonyms for Brahma.
    This form of durga is known to be peaceful, soft and enchanting
    She is symbolized as the Goddess who performs Tapa or hard penance. She holds Kamandal in her left hand and Japani (Rosary) in right.
    Dadhana Karpadma abhyamaksh Mala kamandalu|
    Devi Prasidatu Mayi Brahmacharinya Nuttama ||
    This is the mantra that is chanted on the second day of Navratri. By chanting this mantra, qualities such as penance and good conduct, that help an individual to prosper in life can be imbibed.
    She wears white Saree of bright-orange border and Rudraksh as ornament. When Shail Putri found her love for Lord Shiva, she decided to perform the strict Tapasya or Yoga Sadhna to delight Mahadev.
    She is the Goddess of wisdom and knowledge. Durga devotees worship Brahmacharini devi to acquire power of abstaining food and water till nine days of fasting.
    When Mata Parvati realized her true love for Lord Shiva, Rishi Narad advised her to follow rituals of rigid Tapasya in order to have Lord Shiva as her husband .Inspite of extreme cold, heat , rain Parvati performed Tapasya for long eras. She abstained fom water , food .This great Tapa made her glorified with name 'Brahmacharini' and pleased Lord Shiva to be her divine consort.
    This form is also known as Goddess Parvati, who was Lod Shiva's wife. On the banks of Durga Ghat in Varanasi, is one ofthe oldest temples of Goddess Brahmacharini.
