Default Holiday in Chandigarh Schools for Prime Minister Modi Visit

Chandigarh administration on Thursday announced a holiday on September 11 owing to the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration ceremony of International airport in the city.

The examination earlier scheduled on Friday in all the schools of UT have been postponed.

As per the schedule, Modi will inaugurate the international airport and then pay a visit to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).

Later, the PM will address the crowds at Sector 25 rally ground and then hand over keys of Sector-63 CHB flats to successful allottees.

Adequate security arrangements have been made for his visit in the city.

The Chandigarh administration declared a holiday in city schools since several roads here will be blocked by police and other security agencies for the prime minister's day-long visit to attend four events in the city.

Strength of about 5000 Police Force is keeping an eagle eye on Mohali and Chandigarh during the PM Modi Visit. Rush of Police Personnel can be seen in every area. GMADA has made budget of about 7 Crores rupees for this Prime Minister Visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the new civil air terminal in Chandigarh to the nation in an inaugural ceremony today. All schools in the city will also remain shut for the Prime Minister's visit.

The prime minister's Special Protection Group and the National Security Guard commandos have already arrived in Chandigarh to supervise security arrangements.

The prime minister will address a public rally at the Sector 25 ground. PM Modi will then head to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research for a convocation.

He will then visit Sector 63 in the south-west part of Chandigarh to hand over the keys of newly built flats for the economically weaker sections to beneficiaries.
