Farmers of Maharashtra are against the import of onions, and have said that for the first time in years, the prices of onions have registered a high, and they are making profits.
Opposing the government's decision to import onions, farmers organized a meeting at Azad Maidan in Mumbai and feel that the prices will become normal in the next 15 to 20 days.
Moreover, they think that nothing is wrong if the farmers are making profit from this rise in the prices after a long time.
Fearing more shortage of onions, the Centre has already ordered imports of 650 tonnes from Pakistan and 2,000 tonnes from China.
